How To Set Up A NULL Printer

  1. Open Printers and Faxes.  To open Printers and Faxes, click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Printers and Faxes.
  2. Under Printer Tasks, click Add a printer to open the Add Printer Wizard, and then click Next.
  3. Click Local printer, clear the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer check box, and then click Next.
  4. Select Create a New Port and from the drop down list select Local Port. Click Next
  5. In the Enter a port name dialog box type NUL. Click OK.
  6. Select the Printer Driver that matches the printer that you usually print from.  This can be any printer driver but the one you select will affect how the reports print on the screen.  Click Next 
  7. On the Use Existing Driver question, answer keep existing driver.  Click Next
  8. Printer Name should be NUL Printer and do not set the printer as the default.  Click Next
  9. Do you want to share the Printer? Select Do Not Share This Printer and click Next.
  10. Do you want to print a test page? Select no and click Next.
  11. Click Finish
  12. You will now need to select this printer anytime that you don’t want to print to paper.
