Encumbrance Budget Control
Encumbrance (in NFP) / Budget Control (in FMS) is used to ensure that purchase orders will not exceed an expense accounts budget amount. The Purchase Order module is required in order to use the Encumbrance or Budget Control feature. In this class you will learn how to configure your system to use this feature. Once configuration is complete, you will see how it 'flows' through the system (i.e. how / when is an account encumbered; what increases / decreases the Open PO amount; how to handle PO's that are over budget; what happens to the Open PO amounts at year end; and much, much more).
