CYMA Version 16, to be released in late October or early November, contains over 300 enhancements, technical corrections, report changes and new features across all system modules.

Payroll Enhancements Part 1

To better highlight the new Payroll features in Version 16, we have split the major highlights into two parts. Please review the first Payroll enhancements section below.

Faster Payroll Check Printing!
Historically, CYMA prints Payroll checks as one print job per check. As a result, printing directly to a printer “locks” the users screen until the print job is completed. Also, printing all checks to a single PDF file for later printing would have required add-on third party products.

A new option in Payroll Maintain Configuration allows CYMA users to select whether checks should be printed as separate print jobs, as it does now, or in a single print job. Printing large check runs as a single print job can dramatically (up to ten times) decrease the time it takes for the system to process checks. Additionally, printing as a single print job means that printing to any standard PDF print driver results in one pdf file for the entire check run - to print to paper at a convenient time.

Print Job Per Check - Current Method

Single Print Job - New in Version 16

Users should be aware that printing all checks in one print job and printing directly to a printer (as opposed to PDF file) could result in having to void some checks if the printer jams during the print process.

Close Pay Period Without Clearing Entries for New Period
Did you ever forget to close the previous pay period before making time entries for the new period? A new option in the Period End Close process means no longer having to clear the new entries! This option allows for closing the last pay period without losing time entered in the new pay period. This was accomplished by adding an “Update Entered Entries to New Period” checkbox on Process Close Current Payroll Period. This field will only be enabled if the current frequency selected has one or more entry records in the Payroll file.

Client Level Transaction Codes
Some CYMA customers who provide Payroll Services to businesses use Transaction Classification codes to indicate the Client’s Job Number or another Client Specific Identifier. Version 16 adds a “Use Transaction Class Codes from the Client” option to Payroll Maintain Configuration. If this option is selected then Transaction Classification codes can be specified at the client level (PEOs, Fiscal / Employer Agents and Staffing companies) ensuring only those codes can be used for that client on all payroll entry dialogs and ESS entry pages.
